Our Center's goal is to improve the academic achievement of Indian students with particular emphasis on reading, mathematics and self-concept. We are a non-profit organization funded by the California Department of Education.
The Center is governed by an appointed Board of Directors. These community leaders bring to their job a broad understanding of the challenges facing local Indian youth and a deep commitment to the value of education.

Mr. Wilbur E Beecher (Mono)
Wilbur Beecher is the Chairman of the American Indian Center of Central California. He received the Honored Elder Award at the 25th Annual conference on American Indian Education for California. Previously, he served on the School Board for the Sierra Unified School District. He was a self employed Native business owner of the General Store in Auberry. He also served as the Tribal Chairman of the Big Sandy Rancheria. |

Madeleine Preheim (Cherokee)
Madeline Preheim is employed with the Country Roads Realty. She has served as the liaison for the Indian Education Title VII program in the Chawanakee School District and the Sierra United School District. Madeline is dedicated to helping others in the American Indian Community to achieve success. |

Marie Saenz (Cahuilla)
Marie Saenz served as the Tribal Administrator for the Big Sandy Rancheria. Marie served as a domestic abuse counselor for the Inter-Tribal Council of California, tutor for k-12 students at AICCC, mentor for students at DQ University, and currently is secretary/treasurer for the Board of Directors at the American Indian Center of Central California. |

Victor Gonzales (Apache)
Victor Gonzales is a Native American Vietnam veteran who has served the community by counseling in alcohol and drug abuse programs such as the Sierra Tribal Consortium in Fresno, California. Victor is a teacher of traditional ways, working with drummers and singers on his pow-wow style drum, "Eagle/Bear". Victor is also a single parent for his seven year old son. Victor advocates for the Native American community throughout Central California as a Community Resource Advocate in disabilities. Mr. Gonzales is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Indian Center of Central California. |

| Kathryn Biacindo Ph.D. (Cherokee)
Kathryn Biacindo, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Education at California State University, Fresno. Kathryn is very actively involved with bringing American Indian cultural events to the campus environment. She assists students in education to pursue their dreams by encouraging them to reach their goals with degrees. Kathryn is also a role model for the local Fresno community that educational advance is obtainable. |

Orie Medicinebull MPH, MFA (Mono) Executive Director
Orie Medicinebull has served as the Executive Director of the American Indian Center of Central California for 15 years. She is affiliated with 30 American Indian Education Centers throughout the state of California.
Orie Medicinebull is an artist/filmmaker, administrator, a health planner, and a teacher. Orie is a graduate of UCLA (MFA - Fine Arts) and UC Berkeley (MPH - Public Health: Planning, Policy, and Regulation.) |

She received international recognition from her award-winning film, "Colliding Worlds". She is the first American Indian woman filmmaker to make a film about her tribe and receive an award from the American Indian Film Institute.
Orie Medicinebull is the founder of the annual Precious Sunset Pow-wow, the American Indian Women Association, and the American Indian Family Center. She works in close affiliation with the American Indian Education Center, Central Valley Regional Occupational Center, and other local agencies to provide services to the community she works and lives in. |

| Deborah Bell, Tutor Coordinator
Deborah Bell is a credentialed teacher for the Center who works in the classroom and after school with K-12 native students. Deborah's goal is to assist native students in the areas of reading, math and self concept. She facilitates a summer reading program for elementary age students and also assists with career counseling.
De'Anna L. Ratliff, Tutor Coordinator (Cherokee, Cree)
De'Anna is a credentialed teacher for the Center who works with native students from K-12 at the Sierra Unified School District and the Sanger Unified School District. She works after school at the Center to teach and tutor native students. De'Anna's primary goal is to assist native students in the areas of reading, math and self concept.

Diara N. Pearce, Clerical Assistant/Tutor (Cherokee, Cree)
Diara N. Pearce offers tutorial services to native students enrolled in the program. Diara works with students on a one-to-one basis and in group sessions to help improve math and reading. |

Nicole Wells, Administrative Assistant (Mono)Nicole Wells serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Center by maintaining general office procedures, record keeping, accounting and maintenance. Nicole is a member of the North Fork Mono Rancheria.
